"Night Owl" Card

This is a card made for the weekend card challenge at Stampin' Gals Gone Wild (Connie Stewart). Cardstock is ivory. Patterned paper is a retired DSP from 2013-2014 called Modern Medley. Hello is from the Four You stamp set and owls are from the Hoot 'n' Holler Cricut Lite cartridge.

Tea Cups

It's a Tea Party!

Awhile back I pinned this red paper teacup on Pinterest that I made from the "Tags, Bags, Boxes & More 2" Cricut cartridge and it has been re-pinned a lot. It was a Valentine's Day gift to my sister-in-law. Recently I was looking at my Grandma's tea cups sitting in the curio cabinet and decided to make a paper teacup for my 83-year-old Mom for Mother's Day, kind of a reminder of her Mom. As a side note, these sweet little cups will hold Keurig K-Cups, tea bags, candy, small cookies, etc.

I again used the "Tags, Bags, Boxes & More 2" Cricut Cartridge (cut at 9 inches) and the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! I found that cutting a couple extra circles for the top and bottom of the saucer stabilizes it.

#Mother's Day Card

Thanks for stopping by today! This is a Mother's Day Card I made for a weekend card challenge. Patterned paper is Gold Soiree from Stampin' Up. Leaves are stamped from Crazy About You, flower from Petal Potpourri and sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes. Colors are Crisp Cantaloupe and Pistachio Pudding. These colors  are only going to be around for another month and then will be discontinued. If you love them as much as I do, get yours today!

Owl Graduation Card

Rachel Tessman of stampyourartout.com recently made an owl treat holder from the supplies in the March Paper Pumpkin Kit. I absolutely LOVE owls and it gave me the idea to make pull-out cards. I changed it up a little bit and here are the directions for my card:

1.      Cut a piece of colored cardstock 4 ¼ x 11 inches.

2.      Score at 5 ½ inches and fold in half.

3.      With the folded edge at the bottom, use a 4 inch circle cutting die and cut approximately one-third of a circle in the center top/open edge of the card. Save the cut out pieces for the owl’s wings.

4.      Cut 3 strips of cardstock about an inch wide and use a scalloped punch along the edges to form the feathers. Sponge edges with ink.

5.      For the white collar, I angled two pieces of white cardstock, met them in the middle to form the V and then trimmed off the excess on each side of the card so it was flush with the card.

6.      On the rounded edge of each partial circle leftover from cutting the top part of the card, sponge the edges. Adhere the flat side of each circle against the flat edge of the card on each side to form the wings.

7.      For the eyes, cut two 1 ¾ inch scallop circles in black,  two 1 3/8 inch circles in white, and two 1 ¼ inch circles in black. Layer together. Use a gel pen or white marker to highlight each eye and adhere to top part of card.

8.      For the beak I just added a punched out heart.

9.      Adhere the front and back together on the side edges only using a thin piece of sticky strip, leaving the top open to form the pocket.

10.   For the insert piece, cut a piece of white cardstock 2 1/8 x 4 1/8.

11.   For the cap that is attached to the insert piece, cut a 2 ¾ inch square from colored cardstock and attach a brad to the center, not pushing it down all the way. Make a tassel with yarn or baker’s twine and loop around brad.

12.   Stamp or write a sentiment on the insert piece and insert into card. I used a bone folder to help open the card and stretch it a little bit before inserting the tabbed insert piece. I plan to also insert a gift card or money.

13.   “Graduation” was stamped with the Crazy About You stamp set from Stampin’ Up and then punched out with the modern label punch. I added rhinestone embellishments on either side of the label and also added small rhinestones down the V of the neck.

Tri-Fold Gift Card Holder

I made this card from a Father's Day Card shown in the Spring 2013 CardMaker magazine. Gift Card Holder Directions:
1. Cut a 4 ¼ x 11-inch piece from cardstock.
2. With piece horizontal on scoring board, start at left edge and score at 3, 4 ¼, 5 ½ and 8 ½ inch marks.
3. Cut cardstock into two pieces at the 4 ¼ inch score line. The smaller piece will measure 4 ¼ x 4 ¼ inches (I actually cut this down by 1/8 inch to make it fold up better in the end), and the larger piece will measure 4 ¼ x 6 ¾ inches; each piece will have a 1 ¼ inch flap.
4. Fold along all score lines.
5. To form gift card pocket, adhere the 1 ¼ inch flaps together with a narrow strip of sticky tape on short edges and along scored line only.
6. Round outer corners of card on all 4 sides with corner rounder.
7. On inside flap for gift card, use an oval punch or small round punch and punch a small slit to make it easier to insert and remove the gift card.
8. To finish inside and outside of card, cut 6 pieces of patterned paper ¼ inch smaller than each panel and adhere to panels. If using a directional pattern, make sure the pattern is going in the right direction when the card is folded shut. Round the corners of the 4 pieces that attach on each side of the rounded sides of the card.
9. Cut a 1 x 7 ¼ inch piece of cardstock for bellyband. Score at 2 ¼ and 5 ¼ inches. Fold on score lines and wrap around closed card. Overlap ends and adhere together to form the band.
10. Using foam adhesive, adhere a punched out sentiment to overlapped portion of the bellyband, and slide band over folded gift card holder.

Painted Garden Mother's Day Card

Sometimes you can take an old stamp set you already have and make it "new" again by using updated products. I used the Painted Garden stamp set from 2002 and made it modern with the 2014-2016 In Color cardstock and ink - Blackberry Bliss and Always Artichoke. I added a couple punched out Petite Petals flowers, added a button and some linen thread. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I used the word window punch and the modern label punch. The embossing folders are Cuttlebug. Here are the Stampin' Up products used with the exception of the Painted Garden stamp set.

Birthday Card for Teenager

This was my card for a weekend card challenge for Stampin' Gals Gone Wild. It's a birthday card for my grandson who is turning 15 next month! I wanted something fun yet not too childish. The stamp set is from Sale-a-Bration and this was the first time I'd used it. I got the different colors by coloring the stamps with markers instead of stamping directly to an ink pad. It adds some fun to the card, don't you think?

Crazy About You Birthday Card Set

This is a monochromatic set of birthday cards using the Crazy About You stamp set. This is such a versatile set. If you could only buy one set of stamps, this would take care of your needs all year long - Birthday, Baby, Graduation, Father's Day, Mother's Day, Thanks, Hello, Spring, and many more! It has become my favorite stamp set. The background and featured flower is stamped with one of the flowers from the set. There is also a coordinating punch available to cut out this flower. Four of the cards were made from the 2013-2015 In Color collection, which will no longer be available after the end of May, so now is the time to get it if you like the colors (Strawberry Slush, Coastal Cabana, Pistachio Pudding, and Crisp Cantaloupe). I added a card made with Daffodil Delight.

Do you like the monochromatic look?  I enjoyed making the backgrounds to go with the cards. I need to do this more often. It makes you feel "artistic" to stamp a pattern.

I was asked in a comment about the sizes of the layers. Here are the sizes: The card base is cut at 5-1/2 x 8-1/2 and folded in half, making the finished card size 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 inches. The bottom white layer is cut at 4-1/8 x 5-3/8 inches and the top stamped background layer is cut at 4 x 5-1/4 inches. A helpful hint is to stamp the background layer on a larger piece of cardstock and then trim down to size.

Easter Card

Here is my last Easter project, I think! I created this for Cardz TV Easter Card Challenge. http://cardztv.blogspot.com/ You can see all the cards from the challenge on her website. My card was created with the Create a Critter 2 cartridge, a Paper Studio embossing folder, Stampin' Up designer series paper and cardstock, and a Stampin' Up "happy easter" stamp from a retired set. I also used the bow punch to create the bow. Happy Easter!

Bunny Baskets - Boy & Girl (Revised)

When I originally made and posted the boy and girl bunny baskets, I wasn't really happy with the black whiskers. It really bugged me, so I changed them! I like this version better, do you? You can see the original post below dated February 19th. 

Boy and Girl Birthday Cards for Younger Kids

Here are two of my Etsy cards. I made one for a younger girl and one for a younger boy. My grandson who is 15 now would have loved the race car card when he was little. Heck, he still might. He loves watching drag racing! Both were made with Stampin' Up cardstock. The ice cream cone paper I used for the girl card is a discontinued paper. The paper and race car for the boy's card are from K & Company. It is from my stash so don't know if they still make it. More Cards for Kids!

I love making colorful cards for kids! Here are two more I made with just scraps I had laying around. I cut the balloons from my Cricut along with the numbers. The embossed numbers card is a Cuttlebug embossing folder. Hope these give you some inspiration for your kid cards. The #9 card was cased from Pinterest. Gotta love that Pinterest!

Mama Chick Easter Basket

Mama Chick is made from Create-a-Critter 2 cartridge (Mom Chic) and is cut at 4 ½ inches. Cut accessories and layers at same size so they will be proportionate to the chick. I added a punched flower to the hat with a rhinestone and added the “Happy Easter” tag below the wing. All supplies for box and chick are from Stampin’ Up!

Box is cut from a 5x5 inch piece of yellow cardstock, scored at 1 ½ inches on all 4 sides. Cut up to score line on 2 opposite sides of square, trim where necessary and adhere together. Handle is made from a 6 x ½ inch piece of matching cardstock and attached to 2 sides of box with small brads. I also added a ½ inch trim piece to the box. This was cut at ½ x 8 ½ inches to allow for a small overlap.

Attach chick to front of box and add colorful Easter grass. Finished size of basket is 2 x 4 ½ inches. Would make great favors for your Easter table or cute little baskets for school or Sunday school. I’m thinking of making them in different colors, like Peeps. I think that would be really cute.
